Certain fire extinguishers contain baking soda that mixes with heat to create carbon dioxide. In turn, this is what gets rid of the fire. In other words, baking soda can be a great remedy to get rid of small oil or grease fires. An important note, don’t try this with larger fires because the effects of baking soda may be reversed.
