He’s Just A Kid
Bullying has spread around the world and might be an epidemic that we all need to cure. The planet, without bullying, would be a better place. One of the most likely causes is harassing someone else, and it’s common in places like the U.S., Australia, and Canada. Yet it wouldn’t be a legitimate excuse to threaten someone. In fact, there is not a good enough reason to bully someone. And people still seem to forget about this, and yet they make fun of others. One father, however, did not allow this to happen to his little child. As he zipped his coat, he flashed out a grin.
He Was Bullied
The kid that was being bullied was Joey Mason. He loved to hang around in the park while playing with his ball. Joey was only one of a few victims of school bullying, but whenever he played in the park, he was at least able to find happiness. However, his day was about to change.
His Favorite Spot
At his favorite spot, it looked like he would be humiliated. In the place where he was usually playing, a group of young people appeared. Since most people did not know how to handle bullying, it was rather absurd, so he had to do something.
A Happy Day Turned Into A Nightmare
When Joey Mason started being bullied, he was still in fourth grade. He preferred to play with his dog and cat, and the business, for that reason. He lived in a suburban neighborhood in Toronto. In his neighborhood, there was a relaxing park where children could spend their time outdoors. He often visited the park after school to play with his ball. One day, it got a little out of hand.
After school had ended, Joey’s visit to the outdoor park had become a horrible experience. The older boys, of course, weren’t kind and intended to bully the little boy. For Joey, this park was a fun spot, a place he felt he could play and get away from the whole drama.
I Am A Victim of Bullying
Joey Mason needed a way out of his depression that came out of being bullied. “My name is Joey, and I’m 10 years old,” he shared on social media. “I’m a survivor of bullying. It hurts me a lot.” A 10-year-old felt the need to post it on social media!
His message has attracted a lot of attention from people on social media. Many people saw his letter, but the person who cared most was not aware of it. His father was unaware of his situation and had no knowledge of his son’s bullies.
He Felt Uneasy And Alarmed
Every parent would wish only the best for their children. For a mother or a father, it’s natural to worry about the sadness and pain of their children. Joey’s father was just like any other. He noticed his son seemingly struggling on a daily basis and felt uneasy and alarmed.
Talking About It
He decided to investigate what caused his son to feel these emotions. He tried to talk to his child, but he refused to talk about anything. Joey shut himself off from his parents, and his attitude got worse, but when it came to talking about it, he wouldn’t budge.
Joey Mason’s father caught up with the changes his son had made when he changed schools. He knew that his happy baby boy had begun to turn into an emotional mess after being transferred. He couldn’t help but wonder what made him like that. It might have been because of the school environment, the teachers, or even his other classmates.
Something’s Not Right
Joey’s dad would see that every time his son came home from school, he’d come back crying. It was a sign that something was wrong. However, he did not have enough proof that his son was being bullied. He decided to get right at the root cause of the problem. Enough is enough.
After he figured it all out, he couldn’t believe it happened. He didn’t care if he found a sneaky or underhanded solution. He knew that something had to be done for his son, and it had to be done properly.
He Came Up With The Best Plan
As days went by, he was deeply concerned about his son, and he didn’t want his son to be sadder and sadder. He could no longer put up with it. He decided, finally, that urgent steps should be done. He didn’t exactly know, though. He’s been thinking for a long time about the strategy he’s going to do. And he has come up with a perfect plan.
What Was The Cause Of Bullying?
Joey Mason’s dad thought through all this and spent a lot of time planning. He eventually concluded that his son might have been harassed by one of his teachers, or even one of his classmates. Their family life was totally fine, so he was certain it wasn’t a family problem.
He was not yet sure how the truth could be uncovered. At this point, he was worried and began to feel helpless. Finally, once school had ended, he decided to accompany his son to the local park secretly. And that’s when it happened.
His World Turned Upside Down
It was upsetting that Joey’s chance to play outside was disrupted and even became a nightmare for the child. That was directly related to the bullying. Joey had already played with his ball when some teens came and got close to him. They did not know that someone was so closely watching them.
He’s The Target
There was a group of teenagers that decided to target Joey Mason that spring. It’s been going on for weeks, and it seemed that for all the times and places that Joey went there before and after school, this group of teens would be there to intimidate him.
Strong & Brave
Fortunately, Joey was a strong and courageous child. He chose to disregard their name-calling. The fact that he was able to do so reflected his strength. However, the group did not leave him alone, and they even stepped up their game.
Joey Was In Trouble
Joey Mason was a nice kid and wouldn’t hurt anyone. It may be one of the reasons that this group of young men has chosen to target this child. For the people who were present, they thought that Joey was a friend of theirs because it looked like they knew him on a personal level.
Joey was afraid to defend himself in school. The other students who knew about the harassment were also afraid to speak up because the teachers didn’t know that the harassment was still going on. A lot of teachers believe that these were just kids acting like kids, and probably just fooling around. Well, that’s not the case.
He had previously been bullied in school, but even now, in the park, this awful group of young people pushed him to the corner. Thank heavens, there was someone else in the park watching the whole scene. Hopefully, that person will help Joey out of this misery.
It Escalated Quickly
The group of teenagers wanted to take Joey’s ball and had no intention of returning it. And if no-one stood up to interfere, things could quickly escalate. Unfortunately, however, things seemed normal to outsiders, as the children seemed to be playing.
Even though they seemed nice from their appearance outside, the real essence of these young people was the sheep in wolf’s clothing. They had other motives that should already have been known. For any child, what happened next is totally unacceptable.
It’s Not Getting Any Good
Someone in the group was trying to be funny, saying, “Hey boy, you got a nice ball there. Can I see it?” But before Joey could say anything, the teenager already kicked off the ball. Joey tried to complain and shouted, “This is mine!
They Continued On
Still, the teenager continued to harass him and then said, “Come on, just give it to me, man. It’s just a ball.” And while it was all happening, they didn’t know they were being watched.
It’s Time To Step Up
The man was watching the relationship between Jason and the other teenagers closely. He stayed hidden from their eyes, and with the teasing of the teenager, he turned his attention to the four boys. On the other hand, the older teenager threw Joey’s ball.
The Man Gets Involved
At last, the man decided it was time to step up. The naughty teenagers were not familiar with Joey’s dad. He was finally in the right position at the right time, ready to step out.
A Man Approached The Boys
Joey’s father asked the teens in a disappointed tone, “Gentlemen, what exactly do you think you are doing?” The moment the group turned speechless, Joey tried to get the ball back as they did not know what to say. However, just a few seconds later, they had gotten bold and tried to flee.
“Just Playing Ball, Sir”
The teenagers decided to act innocent and replied with, “Just playing ball, sir.” They hoped they would be left by the man who approached them. But the man wasn’t buying what they said. After that, the man said the same words we would hear when we put ourselves in the same shoes as Joey.
“Why are you picking on a little kid?” The man asked. And when the teenage group was quiet, he continued, “You don’t think your parents would love that? You guys are arrested because you pick a little kid? “Finally, one of the teenagers muttered, ‘No.’ The man continued to question.
It Did Not End Here
The man asked the outsiders in anger, “Why have you guys not stopped him? Would you like to be a part of that?” He was angry, but still glad to help get his son out of the situation. He faced Joey, checking whether he was all okay or not.
He also handed him back his ball. He then turned to the youth group and advised them to find another place and leave the child alone. Someone ended up stuck with Joey. But the story doesn’t end here.
Give Them What They Deserve
Joey’s dad started going to school with his son a couple of days after the park incident. They’ve had a plan. They wanted to walk through the area where the bullies were waiting for Joey. He was able to give them what they deserved and to make sure that he would never again be bullied.
The first part of their plan is to let Joey start playing while his dad waited. And as expected, in the usual corner of the lane, the bullies were waiting for Joey. They immediately remembered the kid when Joey passed by and decided to call him. However, this time, Joey’s father was prepared. He walked over to them, shouting, “Oh!” to get their attention. He smiled as he opened his coat.
Frighten The Bullies
The teenagers were shocked to see the white uniform under his suit. After they saw the white uniform, they hurriedly scrambled. Joey’s dad shouted, “I thought so! ” The teenagers scurried away. He was pleased with the result. Recently, he found his old Judo uniform and chose to wear it under his coat to avoid bullies.
Taking A Stand
Numerous celebrities spoke out and showed solidarity with people who were just like Joey. No one wanted to see bullying, which was the main reason why a lot of people took action. The story of Joey Mason was linked to the anti-bullying campaign.
Keaton’s Heartbreaking Message
Last December 2017, a video was released. It came from Keaton Jones, a young child, who in his video, tearfully recounted his encounters with bullying. The video has received several comments and responses. It even managed to instigate a debate on nationwide bullying. Bandeira was inspired by these incidents to pursue his social experiment to deal with the bullying issue.
Support For Keaton
Because of his role as Captain America, Chris Evans became one of the most famous celebrities. He went so far as to show his support to Keaton and his family by encouraging the young kid to remain strong and inviting him to the new Avengers movie premiere.
“I and the Tennessee Titans would love to have you if you can come to a game.” – Walker said. On week 17 of the game against the Jaguars, they invited Keaton and his family. They were given tickets and even got the chance to meet some of their favorite players. It was indeed a remarkable moment for Keaton and his family.
A lot of NFL players stood by Keaton, then they realized how much he enjoyed the sport, and Delanie Walker agreed to go with him for the extra mile. Walker went to Instagram and posted a video sharing his feelings regarding the bullying. Keaton was invited to the Week 17 game against the Jaguars. He and his family got tickets. He even met some of his favorite players.
The video was viewed more than 15 million times. So, it’s no surprise that even Justin Bieber had seen it. He shared two images of Keaton and even posted a video where he said, “Keaton, you are a crazy beast, you’re a leader.” The star wanted him to be inspired and uplifted.
Are You Willing To Support?
And how’s that for you? Can you help those who’ve been bullied? Will you be able to stand up and help them overcome it? What would you do if they met the same scenario as Joey Mason and Keaton Jones?
Bullying Is Not Right
Threatening them can never be justified. That would be all wrong, and no one deserved bullying. No one should ever experience it. No one should harm others and go so far as to make others miserable.
Awareness And Response To Bullying
Such examples have shown us that bullying is still wrong. One way to let the offenders know about their mistake would be to ask them what they would feel and do if they were being bullied. This could be a step closer to our aim to eradicate bullying in today’s society.
Increased In Cyber Bullying
And though social media has helped us get together and connect faster, online bullying has also been made easier. There were a lot of students who, in real life as well as online, faced bullying. Most of them found that teasing was self-harming, too.
Be Kind To Others, Save A Life
Just by being kind to others and not turning a blind eye when we saw someone getting humiliated, we could save someone. And please keep in mind the golden rule: don’t do to others what you don’t want to do to you. The rule can be applied to bullying as well.
