Numerous people in India were disturbed when they heard a loud sound that sounded like an animal pleading for help. Because they were familiar with the animal, the locals immediately recognized the noise made by an elephant. Elephants are among the most beloved animals among Indians. With that in mind, it’s reasonable to expect them to go to great lengths to ensure elephant safety. Continue reading to find out how the community responded and saved the endangered elephant.
Not Messing With Elephants
When I said that elephants are among the most beloved animals among Indians, I didn’t mean that they are accustomed to being near them. For Indians, seeing and interacting with an elephant would be a rare occurrence. Despite this, the locals believe that elephants will always be one of the most majestic animals in their land and should never be messed with – because elephants will never hurt people if they are not disturbed.
One Of Their Homes
There are many elephants in the picture, so it’s safe to assume that the spot they’re standing on is one of their homes. The Urulanthanni River is the name of the area depicted in the photograph. It’s a place where a herd of elephants resides. People who witnessed some of the elephants marching together have shared their experiences of simply allowing the elephants to do what they wanted. The majority of them were enthralled by the sight of the elephants marching in unison.
A Very Unfortunate Event
Marching in unison is already part of their daily routine. Elephants are very accustomed to participating in the procession. However, no matter how good you are at something, unfortunate events and accidents happen, and that is exactly what happened to one of the baby elephants who were marching with their parents one day. A baby elephant slipped and fell while crossing the farmland, putting itself in a dangerous situation because it was not used to walking through farmland.
The Baby Elephant Fell Into A Hole
One baby elephant slipped and fell into a mud hole while walking through farmland with other elephants, including adult elephants, other baby elephants, and its parents. Because the hole was too deep, all of the elephants who saw it fall and heard its blaring cry for help were stumped as to how to save the baby elephant. On the other hand, the baby elephant was at a loss for what to do because it could barely move due to the sticky mud.
Crying Out For Help
The baby elephant could do nothing but cry out for help, even though it desperately wanted to get out of that hole. All of the elephants present were alarmed by the situation, but they were unsure how to intervene and save the baby elephant. As the situation became more difficult to deal with, the baby elephant’s crying became increasingly louder – the baby elephant could barely move due to the sticky and thickset mud.
The Only Smart Move
For the elephants present, seeing the baby elephant helpless as it became stuck in the hole was a painful sight. They knew they had nothing else to do but cry and call for help from the people in the vicinity, who would hopefully hear them. The elephants all cried out at the same time, each sound getting louder and louder. If you think about it, what they did was a wise decision. What are your thoughts?
It Was Not Working
Despite how loud the elephants had already cried, no other people appeared to be on their way to help. That only made the elephants feel worse, and the added pressure of watching the baby elephant struggle irritated them even more. However, they were aware that they should never give up, and as a result, they continued to scream for assistance. Maybe some things don’t work because no one responded to their call for help after several minutes. Something else had to be done.
They Were Losing the Baby
After a few hours had passed, no one had arrived to help them. Because it was too tired to move in the cramped mud hole, the baby elephant was already starting to look tired. The other elephants continued to scream for help, though they were beginning to lose hope as they noticed the baby elephant was exhausted. On the plus side, the elephants were inspired by the baby’s expression to come up with a plan to save it.
No One Gets Left Behind
With all of the crying and other gestures that the adult elephants made to help the baby elephant, it’s safe to say that elephants, like humans, have a strong family principle that they follow. No family member should ever be left behind, no matter what situation they find themselves in, good or bad. They would go to any length to assist any member in restoring a sense of security. Isn’t that a cute idea?
The Situation Just Got Stickier
Returning to the baby elephant’s situation, the day passed quickly, and no one came to help. All of the other elephants in the scene were in pain because the baby elephant was already exhausted and restless. What made them even more frustrated was that they couldn’t think of any other ways to help the youngest family member besides crying for help.
Still No Progress
After several hours had passed, there was still no progress in the situation. The sun continued to shine brightly, hardening the mud in the hole, which was inconvenient because it made it difficult for the baby elephant to move its body parts. As a result of this, the baby became more exhausted, as evidenced by its facial expression. It began closing its eyes out of exhaustion a few moments later, which was heartbreaking to see for the other elephants.
They Had One Last Resort
They had one last option, as the title suggests. It was still linked to a cry for help, but this time it was more intense. They don’t make this sound very often because they only cry this loudly when they’re upset. The other elephants were left with no choice but to make that deafening trumpet-like sound because the baby elephant was so close to passing away. Did it, on the other hand, work? Continue reading to find out what happens next.
No Holding Back
They were already prepared to go to any length to save the baby elephant in a dangerous and critical condition. With that in mind, the adult elephants did not hold back at all, crying and making the trumpet-like sound so loud that it woke everyone in the vicinity. They cried for a long time – it was difficult for them, but they had to do it to save the youngest elephant in their family.
Trying for the Last Time
Even though it was already exhausted and fatigue had taken hold of its body, the baby elephant attempted one more time to help itself and climb the hole. However, because the mud was so thick, it couldn’t move around freely. It failed to climb out of the hole and slipped once more, as expected. The patience and determination of the other elephants making the deafening trumpet sound of crying out for help fueled the baby elephant’s desire to get out of that mud hole.
People Finally Heard Them Out
Locals in the area were finally able to hear the elephants crying in a thunderous trumpet-like manner after several minutes of crying. When they first heard it, they knew it was coming from a herd of elephants, but they weren’t sure where it was coming from. Despite not knowing the exact location, the people were already aware that a herd of elephants was in distress. Continue reading to find out what happens next.
They Were Very Curious
Locals who lived near the area could not afford to ignore the elephants’ blaring trumpet-like sound. They were so intrigued that they left their homes and walked towards the sound, carefully listening to the loud noise to find out where the elephant’s crying noises were coming from. Knowing what they might face, the people took great care in carrying out every action they had planned.
Leading Them To The Urulanthanni River
The locals realized they had arrived at the Urulanthanni River after several minutes of carefully following the loud sound they kept hearing. At that precise moment, they confirmed that the sound was indeed coming from a herd of elephants. After eliminating that possibility, they were left wondering why the elephants were crying so loudly. The locals, on the other hand, believed that the animals were in grave danger. If they weren’t upset, they would never make that sound.
They Wanted To Help
Knowing that a herd of elephants could be in peril, several residents risked their lives by venturing into the forest to track down the elephants’ exact location. Yes, they were terrified because elephants, despite their natural calm, would always have a violent and terrifying side that no human would want to see. The people who wanted to help, on the other hand, did not let the threat deter them; all they wanted at the time was to save the elephants.
Overcoming Their Fears
Even though elephants have a calm demeanor, they can be violent sometimes, as I previously stated. Well, that is true because elephants will do anything if they are threatened with anything involving their territory – so getting close to them may be a little intimidating for the animals, causing them to become violent at any time. On the other hand, the locals had only one goal: to help the elephants.
They Didn’t Know What To Do
As soon as their gaze fell on the elephants, the locals noticed that only one was in perilous circumstances: a baby elephant was trapped in a mud hole. People tried their hardest to think of a way to get the elephant out of the hole after seeing it look so uncomfortable in its situation. The gap, however, was so small that no one could get the baby animal out. That was the signal that they needed to call for help from the official rescuers.
Waiting for Authorities
A resident was told to wait for the authorities to arrive after calling the nearest rescue department. While waiting, the baby elephant’s expression revealed that its body was on the verge of giving up. All the locals on the scene were concerned by sight, but they had no choice but to wait for the rescuers to arrive. The other elephants’ expressions also indicated that they were worried about the baby elephant.
The people were overjoyed to see the rescuers arrive at the scene after waiting for several minutes for the authorities to arrive. The authorities exited their vehicle and proceeded straight to the mud hole where the baby elephant was trapped. Everyone hoped that the baby animal would be saved right away and that it would not suffer any serious injuries once an animal expert examined it.
The Situation Called For Something Else
The authorities investigated the entire situation as soon as they arrived on the scene. After learning that a baby elephant was trapped in a crowded mud hole, the team realized that their personnel would be insufficient, so they had to inform everyone present that they would return to their department to obtain the necessary equipment to save the baby elephant. This alarmed the public because what if the baby animal’s predicament worsened? Continue reading to find out what happens next.
Watching Over The Elephants
Some residents decided to spend the night with the elephants after the rescuers’ group left the forest to return to their department to prepare a piece of much more extensive equipment. They explained that they couldn’t afford to leave the animals alone while waiting, so they provided them with the company. The night went by, and the baby elephant remained trapped in the mud hole. Well, I think the residents’ actions were very thoughtful, and they deserve to be recognized!
The Day Has Come
The locals didn’t feel well when the sun rose because they had been up all night watching the elephants. However, once they heard the sound of several cars approaching, they seemed to come to life. A local came forward to confirm that it was the rescuers, and they were correct – the rescuers had already arrived! Not only was one vehicle present at the time, but five cars were also visible, followed by a massive excavator. Here comes the exciting part!
With Full Gear
The residents were already confident that the baby elephant would be saved when the rescuers exited the vehicles and went straight to the baby elephant. Given how well-equipped and prepared the authorities were, I am certain you would feel secure and confident as well. After nearly a day, the elephant would finally be rescued! Imagine the relief that the locals and other elephants felt at this time – it had to be priceless.
The Audience Was Getting Bigger And Bigger
The rescuers arrived at 7:00 a.m. to begin their work. The large excavator and other heavy equipment used by the team drew a lot of attention in the area, causing many people to stop and watch what was going on. Despite their strong desire to know what was happening with the elephant, the public was advised not to approach the scene too closely because it could be dangerous to anyone. For the sake of the baby animal, they had no choice but to follow.
Resorting To Plan B
The rescuers already had a plan in mind: they’d use the excavator they’d brought to get the baby elephant out of the mud hole. They didn’t expect the hole to be so small, and the authorities had trouble locating the baby animal – it could have been hurt if they had gone ahead with that plan – so they devised a new strategy. Plan B was to construct a path that would lead to the baby elephant. That was the most secure method of rescuing the animal.
No Pain No Gain
They began digging the mud with the excavator and their own workforce to create a pathway for the baby elephant to be rescued from the hole. They had been at it for a few hours and still hadn’t completed the task – their clothes were soiled, and their bodies were tired, but they had to keep going. Despite their exhaustion, the authorities kept remembering the struggle the baby animal was going through, which inspired them to keep working.
People Already Helped As Well
Even if only the rescue team worked on constructing the pathway, it would take many hours before the baby elephant could be rescued. As a result, some residents have already decided to help the rescuers dig a path through the mud. With that said, after only a few minutes of man’s work, enormous progress could already be seen. Also, kudos to the locals who volunteered to assist!
Thanks To The Huge Excavator
Don’t forget the rescuers’ equipment to dig the mud to create the pathway leading to the cramped mud hole. It would have been much more difficult to work on the path without the excavator, and the task would not have been completed at the same speed. The fact that they had brought such equipment was extremely fortunate for the entire team.
They were close to reaching the mud hole just a few hours after many locals joined the rescuers in constructing the pathway. Well, it seems like there’s always a “however” to everything good – they were nearly finished with the job when the massive excavator suddenly stopped working. That unfortunate event caused everyone working to take a break because it needed to be fixed before the rescuers and some locals could resume their work.
What’s Gonna Work?
I am certain you are already familiar with the famous motto, “What’s going to work? Team Work”. That motto, well, it just reflected what happened next. After the massive excavator suddenly stopped working, one of the residents who was assisting the rescuers appeared to be an angel from heaven, as it volunteered once more. This time, however, it was already to repair the excavator’s engine after it overheated. Isn’t it true that the entire team was fortunate at the time?
Back At It Again
The excavator’s engine needed to be repaired for several minutes. After regaining their ability to function normally, the rescuers and locals returned to work, continuing their task of digging a pathway to the mud hole. This would not have been possible without the people who helped resolve the excavator problem, so kudos to the locals who worked on the engine! Let this serve as a reminder to everyone that teamwork is always beneficial.
Anything For The Baby Elephant
They could see how tired the baby elephant looked even though they were so close to it. That fueled their desire to work even faster and do whatever it took to finish the job. No one expected the rescue to take as long as it did – not the locals, and certainly not the rescuers. They didn’t have time to lose hope or complain about what was going on because they had to focus all of their efforts on saving the baby elephant.
Turned Out Successful And Safe
The rescue team and locals who volunteered to help worked for another set of hours to create the path they were looking for finally. That only meant that the rescue mission had already been completed and that the baby elephant could be rescued from the cramped mud hole in which it had become trapped. Look at the photo to see how the baby elephant looked after being stuck in the hole for almost a day – I don’t know how animals feel, but I’m sure the elephant was happy.
The baby elephant was assisted on its way back to its family as soon as it was rescued by a team of rescuers and some local men who volunteered to help. It was incredible to see how quickly they reunited, even though they had only been separated for a short time. Locals were thrilled for the elephants, and they were relieved when the baby elephant emerged from the crumpled mud hole.
They Have Feelings Too
After reuniting, the elephants were finally allowed to cross the farmland as a group; at that time, the adult elephants were already taking extra precautions to assist the baby elephant. It did not become involved in any further mishaps. As a result, the residents noticed how happy the elephants appeared after they were reunited, and they realized that animals, like humans, have emotions. I hope that this story will inspire everyone to care for animals and treat them with respect.
A Priceless View
After being rescued from the cramped mud hole, the baby elephant appeared to be very alert. That isn’t surprising anymore; after being trapped in a hole and unable to move around freely, anyone would be overjoyed to be free of the cramped space. The joy of the baby animal was not the only priceless sight. The sight of the family of elephants bonding once again was adorable to watch for the locals present during the incident.
All of the elephants turned their heads toward the rescuers and locals who helped rescue the baby elephant after crossing the farmland. As they raised their trunks, they all made the same sound, which was very different from the one they had made before calling for help. That time, the noise seemed to be alive – perhaps it was a way of saying “thank you” to everyone who cared about the elephants and helped them. This is yet another example of animals having feelings.
