For many Americans, weight loss is a major goal. Men and women are constantly fighting to get control of their weight. The difficulty of becoming extremely overweight and then what it took to move their bodies and their lifestyles into a healthier gear was experienced by a young American couple. This is the tale of how, by their own willpower, Lexi and Danny Reed transformed themselves into fit, healthy and health-conscious beings.
Take Out Food
Like many American couples, Lexi and Danny Reed were like them. They came together, fell in love and decided to marry. They gave themselves a relaxed lifestyle and enjoyed eating junk food. When both met, Lexi had already been overweight, and their eating habits only deteriorated when they settled down.
Taking On The Challenge Together
Lexi Reed was just 25 years old, weighing an unbelievable 485 pounds. Her husband, Danny, weighed 280 pounds, and their weight gain seemed to have come close to a halt. So many daily activities, such as riding a bicycle or even just going for a walk, have become difficult tasks. The couple decided after their first wedding anniversary in 2016 that it was time for a change in life.
Enabing One Another
The couple began to date in 2007, and they did very little to prevent each other from overeating without realizing it. Actually, they were only allowing the bad eating habits of each other. They had dinner at restaurants constantly or ordered a drink and lounged on the couch while watching TV. Regardless of the weight they lost, they quickly returned.
A New Year’s Resolution
It is not uncommon for people to make and more common to not maintain a New Year’s resolution. However, in 2016, when Lexi and Danny decided to change their lives, they were an exception to the rule.
A friend heard of their resolution and decided to step in. Danny and Lexi dared to make a measurable resolution to prevent alcohol and cheat for 30 days. The couple took up the challenge and subsequently even signed up for a gym. But would they actually use the gym? So many Americans are signing up and never going.
Taking Baby Steps
She remembered Lexi ‘s cardiovascular classes, “I tried to do high-intensity cardio, but I couldn’t.” Though she was fully motivated to lose weight and fit, she realized that it would be time consuming. She convinced herself that she would not give up no matter what, although it meant that she had to pause for 30 minutes.
Seeing The Progress
With her continued dedication to her purpose, Lexi began to realize that all her hard work had begun to pay off. As she went, she managed to lose approximately 20 pounds every month. But at a certain point her weight loss began to plateau, and she had to fire it up. “My weight loss has slowed down and I’ve taken up my training and adjusted my calories to keep losing.”
While many people really want to lose weight or get fit, they don’t prioritize it. The result is they’re not in the gym, they’re not getting healthier and they just feel worse about themselves. Lexi wasn’t going to let her happen. She talked about her gym routine, “I just try like a business meeting. I’m my own boss and I can’t withdraw.
But Lexi did not try to lose weight alone, her husband, Danny, was with her. They shared the goal of shaping and becoming healthier. They ensure they support each other constantly and help each other to overcome the problems they face.
What About Danny
Although Lexi had more weight to lose, it’s essential that we don’t forget about the journey of weight loss that Danny also went through. Danny was once 280 pounds weighing now only 190 pounds. It was a wake-up call to get him out of the couch and get fit. He said, “The idea wasn’t great at first, because it was always good to go back home, to sit and eat, and to have nothing to worry about.”
The story of this couple began to hit social media and their story went viral on the internet soon enough. They’ve lost a combined 400 pounds in just two years! They went to their Instagram accounts to share photos of what their progress looked like and were soon followed by people. In their “Half Their Size” issue, People Magazine featured them. They were soon invited to talk shows because people wanted the story to be heard.
She explained that she felt that she and Danny were not living their lives to the fullest when Lexi met Megyn Kelly on her show, “We were just fed up with spending so many nights sitting on our couch binge watching TV, eating all our calories mindlessly.” But their weight also affected going out to regular places.
Lexi had always dreamed of visiting Universal Studios’ Harry Potter World, but her obesity held her back. She didn’t believe that she could climb with the weight she was carrying on the rides in the park.
Becoming A Mom
But Lexi wasn’t just concerned about the parks. She and Danny thought they wanted to become parents, and she knew it would be dangerous for her and the baby because of her size. “I knew I was never going to be a mom the size I was and it was the one thing that motivated me.”
When Megyn Kelly asked Lexi about the biggest difficulties she faced on a daily basis, Lexi replied, “I would wake up in the morning, my joints would be sore, I would be tired, I would quickly be out of breath.” She realized that this was a major problem for someone at the young age of 25.
Changing Their Lifestyle
Lexi explained how small changes promote more positive changes and how everything can be accomplished. We have begun to change the food that we eat … For every single meal, we stopped eating out and we made healthy versions of the food we craved. We started moving more and just five times a week, walking and going to the gym. Their lifestyle had become penetrable.
Lexi and Danny began to watch the world improve their lives. Instagram was the main platform for the couple to transmit changes in their lifestyle to the world. Lexi’s “Fatgirlfedup” account has become a place from which others can gain motivation. Lexi has over 705 thousand fans, and she constantly uploads photos and quotes to share her message.
Looking And Feeling Good
Some reviewers said the couple only went for superficial reasons after weight loss, but Lexi replied that it wasn’t like that. Her answer was, “I was always a very happy person. I loved myself at 485 pounds, but just to wake up and do what I want, and to go where I want to, I love myself and I don’t like to feel I’m a prisoner of my own body. “The by-product was looking good, but it was the goal to feel good.
Love In All Shapes And Sizes
What is so incredible about Lexi and Danny Reed is that their love has been strong. It was only strengthened when they joined forces to tackle their dangerous unhealthy lifestyle. “I never saw (Danny) me as my size, asked me to change or made me feel anything else than beautiful,” she continued, “I have treated me the same way with 485 lbs as he does with 182 lbs. Love has no weight or size limit.
Lexi’s Weight Loss Advice
Many people are wondering what advice Lexi can give for anyone who tries to lose weight. “Start small, she recommends. So many times, we try to make resolutions and goals that appear correct but that turn out to be unmanageable.”
Gaining Not Losing
We can only think about “losing weight,” when it comes to these two people, and many like them. But Lexi twists this and explains that it isn’t all about losing; according to her there’s a lot to gain. She wrote on her Instagram page, “It’s not about how much weight you lose, but about how much life you get.”
The fact that weight loss is not a race is one of the points that Lexi really wants to drive home. It might seem like something that could happen overnight, but that’s not the way it is. “I am human and it’s so important to remember that this is a journey at the end of the day, not a sprint,” she posted on Instagram. This is a way of life, not a diet.
If couples merge to achieve a mutual objective, it normally does good for your relationship. This was no different and the Reeds felt their positive shift. Danny explained during an interview, “This helped our relationship a lot and it’s pretty cool … The ability to do things together brought us closer together.
Addicted To Being Healthy
Despite being so dedicated to the challenge of weight loss, Lexi faced an aggressor at many turns. However, doing the same thing continually leads to habits, for better or for worse. “Once I saw the results, it became somewhat more addictive to me,” said Lexi.
No Liposuction Required
Lexi was asked by some people if she had liposuction surgery, but she dismissed it. You don’t have to undergo surgery, you don’t have to pay crazy amounts of money just to have a healthy meal or a trainer, just like moving around! Start to walk,’ she said. Liposuction can contribute to weight loss, but there are healthier ways to do it.
Lexi admits that she didn’t believe she would become this popular with more than 750,000 followers on Instagram today. I would only be happy if ten people were to follow me. It was my boyfriend. I didn’t think I would be followed by anyone. It’s just crazy.’ But on so many levels, her message and her transformation touched people.
“Not even that, but to people coming and being like, ‘You inspired me always. I went to the gym for you today or ‘I’ve started to diet because of you and I lost 20 pounds, so now I can’t do that.’ “Lexi does not want any special credit for what she’s doing.
Lexi said people should not be so trapped in the numbers on a scale, “Remember always to love you, because the scale is just an instrument and you’re worth more than a number at the end of a day.” Obsessing the numbers on a scale will do a great deal of harm to your own self-esteem.
Cooking VS Eating Out
We all know that it is very difficult to break a bad habit. Danny and Lexi had a very unique food relationship and a lot of effort was needed to break free. “We changed our relationship with food the hardest part of our journey. From eating for every meal to teaching me how to make meals every single day, it was a very dramatic change,” she explained.
Not Paying Attention
After launching their own YouTube channel, the couple addresses public questions. One of the responses that the couple gave as they date was: “I don’t believe we knew how awesome we were because I look at progress photos, and I’m like, ‘That’s me. We didn’t feel like it was a problem. “It didn’t even look like me.”
Like the Instagram account in Lexi, their YouTube channel is referred to as “Fatgirlfedup.” The “vlog-style” videos that Reeds uploads are about weight loss with over 30 000 followers. They recently participated in the Los Angeles SAG Awards.
It Takes Hard Work
Contrary to certain ads and promotions, a safe loss of weight is more than just swallowing a pill. Danny and Lexi insist that there’s no weight loss shortcut, but there is a way without harming your body with chemicals.
When you look at this couple’s first photo and compare it to the one you find, it is hard for us to look at the same people. But what it tells us is that it’s possible and how changed it has been.
A quick visit to a Chinese restaurant meant you would eat much more than you could. For the couple it was normal practice to eat more than seven food plates … Everyone! Everyone! Normally, they order chips, chicken, ribs, a number of meat dishes, and much of their food is fried.
Loved For Who She Was
True love can sometimes be part of the issue, because Danny didn’t see that their weight can become their problem in the long run. I weighed over 300lbs when Danny & I met when we’re 16 years old. In an interview, Lexi said, he never knew me as any less & never asked me to change.
Even when there was a desire for fast food, Danny and Lexi did not eat. “Lexi recalled,” I didn’t eat out at all for the first month, I made it all, and I don’t even like cooking, so I’ve been learning constantly. I cooked foods that I liked and took foods I liked before and made healthy versions of those meals. I didn’t feel deprived and was still able to eat the food that I wanted.
Walking Was Difficult
Being overweight really has affected each and every day activity. Lexi used it as a springboard to get her healthy. “I wanted to be able to go hiking and go with my husband, to cycle and roller coasters. I just wanted to do everything you want to do that you can’t do when you are too heavy to weigh.
Waiting For Results
At the beginning of the battle to lose weight, the results couldn’t be seen and nobody was inspired. “Obviously, you haven’t gained all this weight overnight, you won’t see results immediately and in one day you won’t lose all of your weight,” she said.
Finally, A Sign
It took three weeks to see even a tiny piece of change. But she realized it was at that point, when she saw progress, that something could be achieved. “It took three weeks before I saw the results. I became addicted once I started doing it.
Straining The Relationship
The two were becoming more and more distant from each other even before their lifestyle has changed. Although they sat together, ate take-outs, and watched TV, they didn’t engage with someone else. Lexi best explained, “We’d have so many nights to eat and watch and not to talk to Netflix.”
No Knowledge, Just Will
It takes an enormous choice to do what they have done, but you can do anything when you feel that your life is on the line. Lexi said, “I decided that enough was sufficient. I’ve been prepared to change my life. Every day I decided I would work hard for it. She continued, “I didn’t know nutrition, cooking, I didn’t have surgery, I didn’t take any pills. I was only your average fed-up girl, who wanted to change.
One Day At A Time
Besides wanting to lose weight, Lexi wanted to learn more about herself. “I’ve been ready to learn every day. I was concentrating on the single day before me, not the 300 pounds I knew I had to lose because I was overwhelmed by it. It made me feel that I didn’t have that far to go.
Lexi’s Diet Plan
Not everyone is going to support Lexi’s diet plan, but it worked wonderfully for her. Her daily schedule: 30 minutes cardio (Elliptical Machine). Breakfast – 3 pieces of turkey bacon, 2 big eggs, snack 1 – protein shake, lunch – salmon patties, asparagus, cottage broccoli cheese, snack 2 – banana+almond butter, 30 minutes cardio, dinner – Turkey Burgers (Buns-HoneyWheat Sandwich Thin) and Cheese – Fat Free.
Saving Their Lives
Being so massively obese can actually cause death of a person. So when the couple decided they were healthy, they actually saved their own lives. “There are no words to explain your life-saving feeling,” said Lexi. “I’m not a prisoner anymore in my own body and instead of just living in my own life I am finally still alive. Each day I wake up is a blessing.” Every day I wake up.
Both of them have been so experienced with all this diet thing that Lexi wants to be better educated when it comes to food. So, she decided to go to college to study the subject and play a special role to everyone who’s suffering the same thing..
When she weighed almost 500 pounds, Lexi looked back at the size of her chest. She laughed at the size of her chest and how she needed a custom made bras for her. But those were the days when she needed them. Now, she can wear anything she wants.
Staying healthy depends on many things and one of them was outside. Lexi and Danny wanted to change a more productive lounge before the television. “We have a more adventurous relationship and can do more active activities together like walking , cycling, etc.,” she comments.
Get The Right People
We are all aware that love and support can inspire a person to do better and do more. Lexi explains how happy she is that Danny and the people around her have such a positive attitude and support. “If those you love do not support you, it is harder and even harder to lose weight. I’m a lucky girl to have somebody who always loved me regardless of size.
Leaving The Comfort Zone
Losing weight gave Lexi confidence as she never had before. She also gave her the courage to try things she never thought about. She just learned how to dirt bike, and was excited about it. “I’ve never thought in a million years my weight loss journey will take me here or I will ever do something [Danny] really likes.”
According to Lexi, a good substitute for a meal is a protein shake. She swears and makes sure she is drinking at least one day. It should not be served as a meal; it could be a “mini-meal.”
