She said, “The house I bought would require extensive work to transform into my vision and most of which I would have to do myself in order to afford it.” She also told a friend that the place was meant for ‘more,’ but she did not know yet what this meant.
Keeping Herself Busy
Renovating the house meant spending money, but she did not mind. After all, it meant that she could avoid spending unnecessarily by doing the work herself. It would help her stay focused and busy as she worked on other parts of her life. However, she could not help but feel like something was missing when she was living in such a huge place on her own.
Searching For Satisfaction
There were still options for her. She might have felt hesitant, but it was a relief to know that there were other things she could do. The project kept her occupied and motivated, but she still felt unsatisfied.
Infertitlity Issues Of Her Own
She assumed that buying a new place and changing jobs would grant her a new perspective. While this did happen, it did not give her what she was looking for. After her fertility issues, she started thinking of adopting instead!
She Loves Kids
She wanted a new life direction, which was why she began to think of becoming a foster mom. She liked kids, but mother nature was not on board with this desire of hers. Luckily, it was not the end of the road.
Her new church sent her a letter about an upcoming seminar. It was about a fostering program! She liked the idea of helping children in need. Could it be that she has found her calling in life at last?
The Right Path
She attended the meeting, and it only tugged at her heartstrings some more. Katie became convinced that it was the right path for her! She might have felt nervous about it, but she liked the sound of it.
Her Maternal Desire
She sent in a filled-out form on that special day. It went on to change her life forever! If you ask us, there is no better day to do this than Mother’s Day. This ended up giving her the direction she needed.
A Single Mom
She had to think hard about it before she dove into it. Let’s not forget that she was new to the area and single as well. Can she really do this without a partner? At any rate, she knew this was the right choice.
Making It Official
Cases started to come in after she sent in her application form. The foster kids were not only orphans, but they also experienced a lot of trauma at such a young age. It only motivated Katie to do this!
Wanting One Of Her Own
The year after that, she fostered four children. Katie also started to think of adopting one. While being a foster parent worked out for her, she wanted to make parenthood something permanent in her life.
After she made that huge decision, she didn’t have to wait for long. In fact, it only two weeks after speaking to her caseworker about it! A phone call came in to inform her about a baby at a hospital.
Destiny At Work
The child was only four days old. Katie could tell that it was destiny and replied, “I want him!” She also asked that caseworker not to contact anyone else. She prayed that this baby would be the one for her.
A Short 24 Hours Later
A day later, the caseworker called her once more. She was hesitant to answer the phone. She so badly hoped that the kid would be hers! Later that day, she walked out of the hospital with him in her arms!
A Difficult Start
Katie fostered a 14-month-old baby before, but it was a new ballgame to look after a newborn. This kid needed a lot of help right away. It was bad enough that he was an orphan but there was more to it…
Illegal Substance Abuse
Doctors saw that this baby boy got exposed to drugs while his mom was carrying him. It was lucky that he did not show withdrawal symptoms at all. They also found out that he won’t get long-term effects!
This child went through a lot already at only a few days old. It was all behind him now, however. He could move on with the help of Katie, who was determined to look after him as best as she could.
Picking A Name
He was abandoned early on, so he had no name yet. Katie took it upon herself to look for a name for him. It was likely that it would change after adoption but calling him “baby boy” did not sound right.
Baby Boy Grayson
When Katie first brought Grayson home, she just called him baby boy. In the end, she knew he deserved a name of his own. What did she pick? Well, she went with her favorite boy’s name, which is Grayson.
At First Sight
Katie was head over heels with this baby boy from the moment she saw him. There was a connection right away even if she could not explain it. She turned out to be a natural at motherhood as well!
Her True Calling
She began to realize that her calling in life was motherhood. Katie wanted to raise Grayson as her own son. She fostered many kids in need before, but they stayed with her for only a short of period time.
The Next Step
This was how Katie reached the decision to be a proper mother to him. She was aware that it would not be exactly the same as fostering. Even if this was the case, she was ready to make Grayson her legal son!
