The Beach Boys almost made it into the film
Speaking of Carr’s many visions, here’s another one. Carr originally pictured the surf rock quartet singing “Greased Lightnin.”

The 24 hour carnival scene
Due to the fair only being in town the day of the carnival scene, the grand finale was shot in just 24 hours. In order to shoot close-ups later on, the director had created reproductions of all the carnival rides.
