Behind-the-scenes tensions ran exceptionally high. Years later, Cher described Sonny as rigid and controlling when it came to handling business. The following year, and the duo divorced, as mentioned. That’s when Cher had her own Emmy-nominated TV show, from 1975-76.

The 60’s
During the 60’s, Cher had began to establish her career as a solo artist. Many of her early works were highly provocative and marked her as an outsider. Some of her biggest hits in that decade include “You Better Sit Down Kids,” pretty much everything off the ‘Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves’ album, and “The Way of Love.”
