How To Ace All Of Your Midterm Exams

Pick A Time And A Place

It is very important to study at the same time and at the same place every time…repetition is key! Some students feel most productive in the morning hours while others work best after dark. The same goes for study spaces, the library may be your favorite spot, while a friend may prefer their dorm room (although we don’t recommend this option). Make sure the space you choose is comfortable and distraction-free. Go for the soft padded chair instead of the cold, uncomfortable wooden chair, and ditch the cell phones! Most importantly, remember, this will be your set study time and place…so choose wisely!

Study Every Day

Studying a little bit every day is the most productive way to prepare for an exam. This method works because you are continually reviewing the material, ensuring it sticks in your mind. Avoid last-minute cramming and build on your knowledge by studying each day. Trust us, you’ll be stress-free and more prepared than ever!

Plan Your Time

Time is limited, so make sure you make the most of it! Setting alarms, making to-do lists and setting time limits will ensure this. Treat your study sessions as appointments by setting reminders on your phone or computer. To-do lists will keep you on track with what you have done and what still needs to be accomplished; nothing will be forgotten! Last but especially not least, time limits! Allocate a specific amount of time for each task, that way you won’t be spending too much or too little time in one area.

Take Breaks

Taking breaks is just as important as studying for an exam. Feeling frustrated or tired? Take 5-10 minutes and re-set. Grab a cup of coffee or go for a quick power walk. The time away from your desk will allow you a change of scenery and a chance to recharge your mind and your body. Did you know that working on one task for too long can actually decrease performance? Yup, so prioritize those breaks!

Stay Motivated

Studying can be extremely difficult and tiring at times, we’ve all been there. It is important to reflect and ask yourself why you’re doing all of this hard work, and what you are working towards. When you think of the doctor you’ve always wanted to become, you remind yourself of your goals and your drive to succeed will propel you to keep going. Try decorating your study space with inspirational quotes and photographs of those you want to make proud.

Look After Yourself

Don’t forget to take care of yourself! Eating well, getting enough sleep and exercising are super crucial. Oh, and don’t forget the H2O…water will be your best friend…or coffee!

We hope these tips help you to do your best and to achieve, or even surpass your goals!
