Even though there are wooden figurines out there, it is often done to make the piece less likely to crack. The restorers managed to retrieve two leather parchments from the statue. There was text on them! This turn of events took the whole team by shock. This is not something that they saw every single day.

Based on the location of the parchments, the person who left it inside the figurine wanted to keep it there for a long time. The material also pointed them in this direction. It was made of vellum, which is known for durability. There is no way that normal paper pages would have survived that long.
