Other Ways
There exist other ways to manage CF that do not involve the lungs. Implanted devices are used to manage chronic conditions in less intrusive ways. These methods will give long-term access so that the administration of drugs can have an impact on the bloodstream.
Airway Clearance Therapy
Airway Clearance Therapy is a special therapy used to treat cystic fibrosis. It is performed with a special machine known as “VEST” or through manual chest physiotherapy. It works by transporting the mucus around the airways so that the patient can cough properly.
