All In The Family
It’s pretty common for actors or moviemakers to have their real-life family involved in their work. Well, if you really pay attention, you’ll be able to see Tom Hanks’ daughter as well as Zemeckis’ son at the beginning of the movie. Hanks’ daughter, Emily, is seen as the red-headed girl who doesn’t allow Forrest a spot on the bus. Then, Alexander, Zemekis’ son does the same thing. They must have had a fun time working with their dads that day!
Meaningful Props
Gary Sinise plays a man who is sure he’s destined to die on the battleground, Lt. Dan. While his story is compelling on screen, there are actually real-life details that make it more profound. For instance, in one scene, you can see Sinise wearing a rosary with a St. Christopher medal that has ‘Protect Us In Combat’ inscribed on it. That isn’t a prop. In fact, it was a real piece of armor worn by Sinise’s brother-in-law during the Vietnam war.
