The Unbelievable Happened When A Pack Of Huskies Adopted This Helpless Kitten

It is not easy to live on the streets, but it is even more difficult when you are only a kitten. This was what happened to a tiny feline who lived on the streets of the Bay Area. This poor animal was only a couple of weeks old and living on her own. It was a good thing that she was discovered by caring sisters who opened their homes to the baby. They called her Rosie. She then got to meet a pack of Huskies, who happen to be her new siblings! But how did these animals get along under one roof?

On The Streets Of San Jose

Even though people imagine sunshine when they think of California, this is not the reality for the entire state. Rosie started her journey in San Jose, which is not as warm as the south of the state. It is not rare for temperatures to go down to the 40s at night. This was simply far too cold for a kitten of two weeks! If this had gone on for longer, the stray kitten would not have survived. It was a good thing that two good Samaritans came to her aid and gave her a shot at the good life!

The Bui Sisters And A Kitten

Back then, things looked grim for the kitten. It was hard enough to simply survive on her own, but the cold only made things harder for her. She had no idea yet, but she was about to be rescued! Thi and Tram Bui were the pair of sisters who discovered her near the home of an acquaintance. They had one more sister by the name of Thoa, who was an animal lover. She was no stranger to rescuing poor creatures, which was the reason Thi and Tram had no qualms about bringing the kitten home with them. However, things did not go as smoothly as they had in mind.

The Kitten Was In Terrible Shape

There are times when a baby animal looks abandoned even though this is not really the case. Thoa had a lot of experience rescuing animals, but she had no idea if the mother had actually left the kitten on its own. However, it was clear that the kitten was in terrible shape. She was three weeks old when the sisters discovered her on the streets. When they spoke to ABC News, they said that Rosie had been “malnourished, lethargic and dying.”

Time To Name The Kitten

After they brought home the kitten, Thoa gave her the name Rosie. Even though it was going to take a lot of work to nurse her into good health, Thoa was willing to give it her all. She was a huge animal lover and already formed a special bond with the tiny ball of fur. Things were going to be complicated since Rosie was malnourished. Growing babies require food to develop without any problems, so she had to take this into consideration. However, they could not find anything that Rosie would eat. As a matter of fact, it looked like the kitten was not at all interested in eating!

Figuring Out How To Feed Her

Even though she was an animal rescuer, Thoa grew frustrated because Rosie would not eat. It was important to give her the nourishment she needed as soon as possible. “She almost did not make it through the first night, even with round the clock care. Our cute kitten was lethargic and limp,” she said on Instagram. That was when she came up with an idea. It was time to bring in someone to help her out! There was no one better for the job than Lilo, her Siberian husky.

Introducing Lilo To Rosie

Thoa felt stressed out because Rosie refused to eat whatever they served her. There was no way that the kitten was going to survive without eating anything. She assumed that the problem would be solved if Rosie felt safe enough to eat. Thoa thought that the kitten would get comfortable enough to eat if she had a furry friend. This was the reason she brought in Lilo into the picture! Did her plan work?

It Was A Success

The two animals formed a bond as soon as they were introduced by Thoa. She let ABC News know that the dog refused to leave the kitten for hours on end. Rosie cuddled up to Lilo and felt comforted by the presence of the canine. It did not take long before Rosie felt secure enough to start eating. As a matter of fact, she even tried nursing on Lilo like one would do to their mother! This gave Thoa hope.

They Were Joined At The Hip

It was clear that Lilo had maternal instincts. After all, the husky knew exactly what to do as soon as she met Rosie. Thoa shared with ABC News how the dog “cuddled her and comforted [Rosie] until she was better and ready to finally drink from a bottle.” As a matter of fact, Lilo remained by the side of the kitten the entire night. This was even better than what Thoa was hoping for. She brought the husky dinner so that they did not have to leave each other just yet.

They Needed Each Other

We all know just how powerful a maternal instinct can be. While Lilo could not be a mother naturally, she still knew how to deal with the kitten. Thoa said, “Lilo has never had puppies of her own, and never will. But motherhood may just be her calling.” She went on, “I think she knew that Rosie needed her.” It is also possible that they both needed one another, although for different reasons. At any rate, the two of them were inseparable!

They Were Cuddle Buddies

This unlikely friendship between a cat and a dog is truly adorable to behold. However, it also ended up saving Rosie! When Thoa spoke to The Dodo, she said, “She started feeding after a couple hours of just cuddling.” We all know how powerful a hug can be, and this is also true for animals. The Bui sisters could not believe what they were seeing. In such a short span of time, the dog and cat became good friends!

Meeting The Rest Of The Pack

Regardless of how the media portrays them, cats and dogs are not always enemies. You would not doubt this if you see Rosie and Lilo together. After meeting one another for the first time, they were joined at the hip. It seems that Lilo was not the only canine in the house either. The truth was that there were three dogs there! Infinity and Miko also lived under the same roof. Did they get along with Rosie?

We are sure that you also want to know what happened when Thoa introduced Rosie to the rest of the pack? Let us find out if Miko and Infinity had been as accepting as Lilo had been. It was a good thing that they liked Rosie from the get-go as well. The cat liked them back too. Soon enough, the pack of three became a pack of four. If you see them all together, you will see just how well the animals get along.

Imitating Her Older Siblings

It is not rare for the youngest child in a family to look up to the older siblings and copy whatever they do. This was the case for Rosie and the pack of huskies. We know that it sounds strange since she was only a couple of weeks old, while they were huge huskies. However, they make for an adorable sight together. It looked like Rosie was now part of the pack. When Thoa spoke to BuzzFeed, she said, “They sleep together, they walk together, we all go for hikes together.”

She Would Feel Left Out

Even though she was now a part of the pack, there were certain things that she could not do with the huskies. One of the sisters thought that Rosie seemed sad whenever the dogs had to go somewhere and left her at home on her own. This was why Thi, Thoa, and Tram planned something that might sound crazy to most people. It was very unusual, so they did not know if this plan of theirs was going to work!

Bringing Her Along With Them

The Bui sisters knew that the plan is a bit strange. They wanted to take Rosie when they took the huskies out! “I was like, ‘You’re crazy, we’re going to look ridiculous,” Thoa said. At any rate, they gave it a shot. “[W]e do [look ridiculous] sometimes, but that’s okay… Basically, whatever we do with the dogs, we bring Rosie along,” explained Thoa some more. The sisters were just happy that the pets were happy!

No Litter Box

Rosie clearly thought that she was another dog, which has led to antics that make the Bui sisters laugh. However, there might be nothing funnier than the way she does her business. Let us just say that she does not use a litter box as most “normal” cats would. No, she has learned to do her potty activities the “doggy way.” When Thoa was interviewed by ABC News, she said, “When [Rosie] saw Lilo and the dogs went outside to potty, she started doing the same… When they were leashed to go on walks, Lilo wanted to be leashed and to come along, too.” However, Rosie and the huskies were almost out of time. Why? Well, Thoa needed to look for a more permanent living situation.

Time To Make A Decision

At the start, Thoa did not plan to keep the kitten forever since she just wanted to nurse Rosie back to health. However, the huskies did not get the memo. When it was time to look for a new home for the kitten, the dogs made the sisters change their minds. “Rosie is now a part of the pack… Since Lilo is their leader, Infinity and Miko just accepted her, and now they’re all good friends,” Thoa told ABC News. Rosie was not about to go anywhere!

Home, Sweet Home

At last, Rosie has found her forever home and has settled in some more with the huskies. As time passes by, they only keep getting closer. It is not every single day that you hear about a cat joining a family of creatures from a different species. She has come so far from the malnourished kitten they found on the streets! Do you think Rosie only imitated her canine siblings because she was still so young? We do not know the answer to that, but Thoa has explained that Rosie still possesses normal cat traits.

Still A Cat

We do not know if Rosie is convinced that she is a dog, but she still acts like a cat every now and then. Thoa told The Dodo, “She definitely has her catlike features because she has other cats living in the house that are her friends, as well.” She added, “But I think she knows deep down inside that she was raised by a husky.” We are glad to hear that Lilo was able to help Rosie grow into such a wonderful cat.

Her Dog Traits

“She thinks she’s more a dog than anything,” Thoa explained as she talked to The Dodo about her pets. Rosie was raised by huskies, and “so many of those features” has stayed with her. It is not limited to her potty activities and enjoyment of walks either. Rosie tends to eat and drink from the same dishes that her canine siblings do. It is a good thing that the dogs do not mind this. They are just one big family!

Rosie And Lilo

As you can see, Rosie is not like your average cat by any means. She loves dogs despite the fact that she is not supposed to. Aside from that, she is not scared of the water like most animals from her species are! She once joined the family on a boating trip and did not seem to mind. “We go on a lot of road trips, and we recently took Rosie kayaking and paddle-boating with us,” Thoa told ABC News. “She’s not afraid at all, and as long as Lilo is there, she knows everything is going to be OK.” Let us see how the cat has reacted to the other rescues that Thoa has brought home.

Paying It Forward

Rosie needed to toughen up because she had to survive on the cold streets of San Jose on her own for a little while. It is a good thing that she has softened up thanks to the love that Lilo has shown her. She “pays that forward” every chance that she gets. Whenever Thoa brings rescues to the house, Rosie makes sure to help her look after the poor animals. Isn’t that the most adorable thing you have heard?

Thoa is a huge animal lover and continues to nurse rescues back to health. Rosie is now a permanent part of the family and the pack of huskies. Thoa has since turned her attention to other animals in need. We are glad that she has an assistant in the form of Rosie! It looks like she is now striving after getting the love that she needs. These days, she makes sure that other animals get the same treatment.

Rosie used to live on the streets, but she has since become a foster mother as well. One year after she was brought home by the Buis, they took home four kittens in need of help. Rosie was ready for such a challenge. The sisters took to YouTube to show how Rosie looked after the little ones. She was a natural! They said, “It looks like Lilo’s teachings have rubbed off on [Rosie]! She started mothering the kittens, and although she has never had a litter of her own, or any milk to give, she is as motherly as they come. We are so proud of her!!”

Moving People From All Over The Globe

Thi, Thoa, and Tram Bui enjoy sharing the stories of their animal rescues. They love animals with all their hearts and want people to see all the creatures that they have taken in and looked after. Take a look at these tiny kittens! The sisters took to social media to share these heartwarming stories. The posts have inspired people from all over the world as well. They now run a nonprofit rescue called Mini Cat Town Kitten Rescue. Aside from that, Rosie has celebrated her fifth birthday recently.

Celebrating Her Fifth Birthday

The Bui sisters post a lot about Rosie. Recently, they posted about her fifth birthday. “Happy Birthday to Lilo, Rosie, and Infinity! The pups turned 7 on April 30th and Rosie turned 5 years old,” said the caption on their Instagram post. “It’s so crazy to look back and see how much time has passed. We are so lucky to be celebrating another year together! Thank you to everyone who has been following their story from the very beginning!” Keep reading to see more photos of the kittens that the Bui sisters have rescued.

Lilo And More Kittens

Lilo happens to thrive when she helps other creatures. Take a photo of her with another kitten! This post was uploaded in May 2020. The caption read, “Happy Mother’s Day!” Lilo might not have puppies of her own, but it is clear that she has a strong maternal instinct. It is hard to figure out what her expression is trying to say in this photo, however. One of the followers decided to give it their two cents and said that Lilo was probably thinking, “Hmm, not sure I signed up for this, but oh well.”

Take a look at these inseparable balls of fluff! They have just crawled into a special scale together. This was the caption that Mini Cat Town Kitten Rescue added: “Guys, that’s not how this works.” They do not weigh very much because they are still so tiny. We are sure that they will double their body weight sooner than later. After all, Rosie and Lilo are there to ensure that they get the nourishment they need.

Playing Hide-And-Seek

A lot of kittens like to hide in small spaces. It looks like the three siblings are fond of playing hide-and-seek but always pick the same spot to hide in. The rescue group of the Bui sisters posted the funny photo and added the caption, “You guys know it’s no longer a hiding spot if we always find you there, right?” On the website of the foundation, it says, “Since 2015, Mini Cat Town has rescued over 340 cats and kittens.” Yes, that is definitely a lot of cats! We are glad that the sisters are there to help out the strays in and around the Bay Area.

Monday Sucks For Animals Too

It seems that kittens are not immune from going through a “case of the Mondays.” Mini Cat Town took to Instagram to share this photo one Monday morning. The caption said, “Happy Monday from Buzz!” Many of their followers said that Buzz does not look all that thrilled in this. One of them even said, “Buzz looks like he’s having a rough Monday too.” Folks, let us give him a break. After all, it is not exactly easy to be a stray! We are sure that he will feel much better after a nap. Up next, we have another touching story of a man who rescued a stray.

Abandoned By Her Mom

Feral cats boast strong maternal instincts. However, they will leave some kittens behind if it meant saving the rest. Kittens need to fight for milk, which means that sickly or small ones might not survive. This is the reason a calico kitten had been abandoned in the summer of 2017. She was part of a huge litter, and she was unable to get the nourishment she required since she was so tiny.

Abandoned By Her Mom

She Was All Alone

The calico kitten was a tiny runt. Its mom realized that the kitten was not going to survive, so she decided to abandon it for the sake of the others. There are times when kittens have to be on their own as the mother looks for food. However, this kitten was all alone at the time. She had been crying for help and might have died if she had not gotten lucky.

She Was Rescued By A Good Samaritan

In August 201, Imgur user Alan found a scrawny calico kitten. She was the smallest one that he had ever seen and soon realized that she had been abandoned. This was the reason he brought her home. He said, “Her mother doesn’t like her as the others.” The kitten clung onto him right away! He brought her toys, food, and a bed. On top of that, he walked the cat around the apartment until she fell asleep at his feet. It was a good thing that he was not totally unprepared for a situation like this one.

Finding Her Forever Home

Alan named the calico kitten Sansa. He did this because her huge blue peepers reminded him of the actress Sophie Turner, who is Sansa in Game of Thrones. On top of that, her ginger fur also reminded him of the auburn hair of the actress. However, the similarities end there. In the HBO show, the character was a spoiled young girl with lavish dresses. This kitten was ragged and malnourished!

Biting Off More Than He Could Chew

Alan took a lot of photos of Sansa after bringing her home with him. He took to Imgur to share the shots. Some users felt concerned about this. One of them said, “I’m pretty sure she shouldn’t have been taken from her mother yet.” Kittens have to stay with their moms until they are ten weeks old. Back then, she was just 32 days old and needed mother’s milk. Did he have the supplies that he needed to care for her?

Kittens Were At Risk

After updating his Imgur, users told him to bring the kitten to the vet. After all, kittens that young and malnourished might be suffering from various illnesses that could lead to death. It is not rare for kittens to develop feline distemper, worms, and immunodeficiency disorders. Alan decided to follow their advice and had Sansa vaccinated for a variety of conditions. However, he still had more to do to make sure that she was not going to get sick. How could he care for an animal who refused to eat?

Not Prepared For This

He took to Imgur to say that he “didn’t prepare all the things she needed.” At the start, he thought that she was going to be fine with just water, kibble, and toys. With the help of the online community, he found out that he was wrong. Young kittens need special cat food that had more nutrients than normal adult cat food. It was important for them to get calcium and protein in order to grow without problems.

She Was Not Eating

After bringing the kitten home, Alan noticed that Sansa was not eating. Imgur users told him that she was too young for solid food and can only drink milk until the eight-week mark. Alan found out that kittens need different care from adult cats. For one thing, they might get dysentery from drinking cow’s milk. They cannot feed themselves as well. Alan had no choice but to step in for her mother!

Looking After Her

He purchased a kitten milk mix that he needed to turn into a sludge himself. He also had to feed Sansa with a syringe. She had such a small tummy, so she had to be fed every few hours. Imgur users told Alan that she could not retain body heat as well. This was the reason he gave her a lot of beds and blankets.

He Defined Her Future

Cats are very social animals. When they are around other cats, they get a sense of security and become playful. Kittens tend to be friendlier and less aggressive if they have been handled as early as two weeks. Alan might not have known it at the time, but he defined the future for Sansa. He did not just pick her up and feed her, but he ensured that she was not going to be isolated and aggressive!

She Grew Up Strong And Healthy

He fed her with the bottle for a few weeks and saw her grow stronger. At last, she did not look like skin and bones. At last, she could also explore the apartment as much as she liked. After a while, she could also eat solid food. The Imgur users told Alan to give her kitty formula so that she would get enough protein. While waiting for it to arrive, he made her scrambled eggs so that she could have healthy fats.

Her New Dad

After a couple of weeks, Sansa grew to be half the size of his foot. The kitten was also infatuated with Adam! She would typically squish herself between his feet and purr. On top of that, she fell asleep on him all the time. The kitten got more playful and followed her human around the house. Alan gave her lots of toys but decided that this was not enough. It was a good thing that he had an entire room for her.

She Is Now A House Cat

As Sansa grew stronger, she started to get into the role of a house cat. She got to know the finer things that life has to offer. She played with cardboard box mazes and played with random trinkets at the house. She also got to know how to use a litter box. Even though most kittens do not learn how to use one until they are three months old, Alan decided to buy one for her earlier on.

Now Playing Around

When kittens grow older, they start to scratch, bounce, bite, and stalk. Sansa had no siblings around, which meant that Alan was her only target. To be specific, his hand was her main opponent. At first, it made for cute photo opportunities. This stopped when her claws and teeth grew. “She [began] to bite me,” he explained to his friends on Imgur. “Need a way to stop [her] from doing that.”

How To Handle Her

The users on the photo sharing site praised his efforts since it meant that she was strong and healthy. A commenter said, “Kittens need to be socialized.” Her grappling was what kittens did when they want to socialize. Users also told him to make a high-pitched yelp so that Sansa would know when she was being too rough. Some said that he should get her a scratch post. Adam followed their suggestions, which led to more manageable rough-housing from Sansa. What a relief it is to hear that!

Her Blue Eyes

Even though she got her name for her blue eyes, they did not stay that way for a long time. Her eyes were yellow green by the time she was 50 days old. This happens to most kittens out there. Many kittens are born with blue peepers that turn into copper brown or yellow green after three months. This was also another indication that Sansa has grown big and healthy!

Afraid Of Water

As she grew older, Sansa got more independent. For one thing, she did not need cuddling and blankets to stay warm. Alan decided that it was time for her to take a bath. Kittens do not normally need baths since they are capable of cleaning themselves. Despite this, Alan thought that she was too dirty. The cat was scared of the water! It reminded Alan of the time that she would bite and scratch at his hands.

It Was Meant To Be

Four months after he took her in, he took to Imgur to upload photos that showed just how much she grew. Sansa used to a tiny, scraggly kitten. Now, she was a fluffy and healthy cat that had a lot of sass. He also said that Sansa did not suffer any major health issues when she was a kitten. Many users were relieved to hear that this was the case. After spending months under his care, she has become as beautiful as the actress she was named after. Sansa must be the luckiest cat on the planet!

Her New Sister

We love the fact that Alan has given Sansa a sister. How awesome is it that he took in another calico and called her Arya? The two of them have bonded quickly. The two cats might be the same age, but Arya is smaller than Sansa. We are glad to hear that the bigger cat took charge and showed the smaller one the ropes. Kittens raised alone are usually hyperactive, so this is probably going to be good for Sansa!

Her Life Now

These days, Sansa likes to play with her toys and sit on Alan’s lap as he works away on his computer. She is as snuggly as she had been when she was no more than a kitten. Even though she had been abandoned by her mother, she now has a loving father and a little sister. We are impressed by how well Alan did even though he had no experience raising cats before!
