During the run of the show, guest appearances and cameos were made by different members of the family of the cast. Catherine Rusoff, Ed O’Neil’s wife, guest starred twice. (Katey Sagal’s brother) Joey Sagal and (Christina Applegate’s mom) Nancy Priddy also made appearances in various episodes. Apparently, David Faustino was quite popular with the ladies off-screen. Two of his ex-girlfriends, Julia Teblak and Elaine Hendrix, each appeared in an episode.

In a very interesting homage to the dead-end job of the most famous character he has played, Ed O’Neil’s walk of fame star is placed in front of a shoe store chain! On the day Ed received this great honor, fans turned up in order to get autographs from him. They asked the iconic TV father to sign the favorite pair of shoes they brought. Now we have to say, that that is pretty clever thinking!
