First Record Of Nurses
Nurses have been around even before they are recognized as ‘nurses.’ Ever since humans have experienced injuries and sickness, there has been a need for nurses in a sense. The earliest records of active nurses are in the Roman Empire in 300 AD, and the hospitals there are quite advanced for their time. In the Middle Ages, nursing has been made to be more structured, systemic, and less random.
The Bellevue Hospital School Of Nursing
Began in 1873 and located in New York City, the Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing is the first-ever nursing school established in the US, based on the principles of Florence Nightingale. This one-year program school happens to be a trailblazer for the opening of other nursing schools, such as the New England Hospital for Women and the Massachusetts General Hospital. This trend began a critical point in the world of nursing in the US.
