Bob Dylan – $200 million
Greatest Hits: The Times, They Are A’Changin’, Blowin In The Wind
Folk singer Bob Dylan is one of the most pop-culture (and counterculture) artists, penning Civil Rights anthems The Days They Are A’Changin’ and “Blowin’ In the Wind,” launching his eponymous album in the early 1960s, preceded by hit record after hit. Politically, he published several records and singles. He was perhaps one of the first to use electrically amplified instruments in his rock songs. He sold over 100 million records and won the 2012 and 2016 Presidential Medal of Freedom and Nobel Prize.
Brian Wilson – $75 million
Greatest Hits: Good Vibrations, I Get Around, God Only Knows, Barbara Ann
Wilson co-founded Beach Boys. Signed to Capitol in 1962, he wrote over twenty-four top-40 band songs. He’s called one of twentieth-most century’s innovative songwriters, others claim he’s a genius. His brothers and cousin formed Beach Boys. Wilson also performs occasionally and is dubbed indie music and punk godfather. His melodies and orchestrations were hard to initiate, but musicians (including the Beatles) learned plenty from their influence.
