How Much People Working At The White House Make

The Salaries Of White House Employees

Donald Trump (President) — $400,000

There are some nice financial perks to holding the country’s highest office, one of which is an annual salary of $400,000. On top of that tidy sum, there is also an expense allowance of $50,000 given yearly, a travel account of $100,000, and a $19,000 entertainment allowance, CNBC reports. Since 2001, every president who has been in office has earned this amount.

Mike Pence (Vice President) — $230,700

Vice President Mike Pence earns $230,700 a year, similar to his predecessor, Joe Biden. Since 2010, that amount hasn’t changed. In 2019, Pence was due for a slight raise which would’ve increased his pay to $243,500 annually but the bump never happened due to the government shutdown occurring at the time. Nevertheless, the veep has joked about being thrifty and said he purchases two for one suits, even with his respectable paycheck.

Another tough job that comes with a competitive salary is serving as the chief of staff to the president. Currently, very few White House employees get paid over $200,000 annually. In Obama’s White House, five different people took on the role in eight years, including Denis McDonough who made $176,461 in 2016.
