Geena Davis was a hot commodity in the 1980s. It appeared that she could do no wrong when Beetlejuice and then Thelma and Louise catapulted her to box-office superstardom. You couldn’t turn around in a supermarket in the 1990s without seeing Davis and her ex-husband Jeff Goldblum on a magazine cover. Their remake of the horror classic The Fly is revolting. Renny Harlin’s flop Cutthroat Island, directed by her now ex-husband, was the only real blemish on the ointment. They made the movie specifically to help Geena launch her career. It was a flop, and she was on the verge of drowning as a result.

Geena is still looking great, despite the fact that she is in her sixties! The well-known actress is seen here supporting the Women’s Sports Foundation in its fight for gender equality in sports. Geena still performs occasionally, but she now devotes the majority of her time to advocacy. She’s even set up her own research center to look into gender stereotypes in the media. She was one of 300 women who applied for a spot on the 1999 Olympic women’s archery team. She could play an older Katniss Everdeen if Disney sells the Hunger Games franchise.
