Some Inspiration
Norman Rockwell’s artwork actually inspired the look of Forrest’s hometown. Rockwell was an American painter that was most famous for his cover illustrations for the Saturday Evening Post, which he did for almost 50 years. He portrayed American culture beautifully.
Successful Failure
It turns out that Paramount claims Forrest Gump to be a “successful failure”. Despite the movie grossing over $350 million, they still lost $62 million thanks to distributors’ and exhibitors’ high fees as well as the film’s marketing budget. However, the funky bookkeeping also was chalked up as Hollywood accounting, meaning that expenses are inflated to minimize profit sharing.
